MID-BRETON SEDIMENT DIVERSION
Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana
Massman, as a partner of the Louisiana Diversion Co., was awarded a contract for Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) services for the Mid-Breton Sediment Diversion Project from the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA).
Located in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, the project is intended to divert sediment-laden water from the Mississippi River to re-establish the delta sediment deposition between the Mississippi River and the Breton Sound Basin (24 square miles) to reduce land loss and sustain existing wetlands over the next 50 years.
The work consists of a gated diversion structure and lined channels through the existing levee that divert high-river elevation flow to the wetlands.
